Individuals with a criminal record who have paid their debt to society should be able to work legally in the field of their choice. The Prairie State Promise recommends eliminating these barriers through occupational licensing reforms.
Reduce Sentencing for the Non-Violent
Low-level, non-violent offenders shouldn’t spend a lifetime in prison. The Prairie State Promise encourages legislators to reduce the use of prison for low-level, non-violent offenses and encourage rehabilitation over incarceration.
